Ever wonder why all the little old motels with their kitschy neon signs line the street? Those motels used to be swanky places to stay when tourists were travelling west. The last stop before the mountains.

The Colorado Running Hall of Fame (CRHF) Selection Committee is accepting nominations for 2008 inductees into the Colorado Running Hall of Fame starting today until April 16, 2008.
Colorado has one of the highest concentrations of world and American record holders and Olympic and world championship medal winners. The Colfax Marathon Partnership, Inc. Board of Directors established the CRHF in 2007 to recognize Colorado residents who have achieved national and international recognition on the long-distance running stage.
The first class was inducted in May, 2007 and included former CU distance runner Ted Casteneda; four time Olympian Colleen De Reuck; four time Olympian Lorra ...

"A group of runners at the 20th annual Runnin' of the Green in downtown Denver Sunday were racing to battle for something more than a record time. The members were trying to overcome homelessness and addiction.
"The group is from the Denver Rescue Mission's New Life Program and the Urban Peak's Up and Running Program. The members were recruited by the Activity Inspired Rehabilitation (AIR) Foundation.
"The runners are taught how to set incremental goals, like going a mile, then two and then five.
"And it really shows out that the guys who stick with the program, that really engage in the process, begin to naturally understand what that means in their everyday life," ...

101-year-old Buster Martin is training to become the world's oldest marathon runner when he runs in the London marathon next month. He ran the half marathon last weekend, completing it in just over five hours. (Pimlico Plumbers)

If you are a regular runner and could manage a 8 or 9 mile run, you're still in contention for the Colfax Marathon.
If you can run 4-5 miles, you're in good shape for the Half Marathon.
And even if you haven't ever run, you can still train for the 5K leg of the Relay Team!
There are two official training groups for Colfax, and we'll be bringing you information about both of them. One is Runner's Edge, and the other is Denver Galloway.

2/29/2008 9:07 AMThe 2008 Colfax Marathon is ready to roll on Sunday, May 18, 2008 with a brand new, screaming fast course. Last year's runners spoke, and we listened.
An anticipated 6,000 runners will compete along Colorado's most colorful street in the full marathon (26.2 miles), the half-marathon (13.1 miles) or a relay team comprised of 5 members.
