Marathon legend and Olympian Jeff Galloway (he's run in 136 marathons!) talks about the new and improved Colfax Marathon on 9News and his training methods. Go here to watch it.

Jeff's words of wisdom:

  • "If you can insert walk breaks from the beginning, you feel great, and you erase fatigue as you go."
  • "Colfax is a great marathon. It's energized thousands of people in this community to start and continue a fitness program."
  • "Having a flatter course, with more shade and parks, you'll have a better time."

Re: Marathon legend Jeff Galloway talks about the Colfax Marathon

I have been excited about the Colfax Marathon being such a great opportunity for the people of Denver to learn about Colfax and I have enjoyed the blog comments. However, the course changes eleminated the stretch of Colfax between Colorado Blvd and York street! This is one of the most exciting areas on the Avenue! I am disappointed that I can not go cheer our runners this year- right outside of my home! I feel this is a slight to our neighborhood and local businesses which have worked so hard to improve and add stability to our city and Colfax. All the planning that I have heard about to upgrade and improve Colfax seems to fall aside when this stretch of Colfax is on the table. What a shame.

The half-marathoners will still run by this stretch and head east on Colfax to Fitzsimmons, so you can still cheer them on!

Hello Carole,
Thanks so much for posting that. This is Don from the BlueBird Beat, if you go to the site that has been so kindly remedied. We are now part of the Half Mile Course. We are planning events for Marathon Month right now. We will look forward to seeing you.

Thank you again,
Don
