Highlighting another of our Charity Partners, the Prostate Cancer Education Council has added the Colfax Marathon to their PACE Race series.
The PACE Race was launched in 2002 by the Prostate Cancer Education Council (PCEC) to increase awareness and early detection of prostate cancer and to educate men and their families on treatment options and other men’s health issues. With events in several cities across the country, the 2008 PACE Race Series has the ability to touch men and women of all walks of life.
“In 2008, approximately 3,210 men in Colorado will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 350 will die from the disease. One in five Colorado men have a lifetime risk of developing the disease, which is higher than the national average,” said Wendy Poage, Executive Director, Prostate Cancer Education Council. “As a Denver-headquartered organization, we are thrilled to bring awareness to our own community through the Colfax Marathon about a disease that affects approximately 2 million American men. With our partner Sanofi-Aventis, the PACE Race Series will host a booth during the race where participants and onlookers can collect more information about prostate cancer.”
“A marathon is often about endurance and great accomplishment. But it’s also reflective of a commitment to a healthy lifestyle,” said Creigh Kelley, Operations Manager, Colorado Colfax Marathon. “Together the Prostate Cancer Education Council and the Colorado Colfax Marathon can reach men, and the women in their lives, about the importance of prostate health and early detection.”
