THE DENVER DASHERS
Division: Relay – Municipal Cup

This is the third year that The Denver Dashers are competing in the Relay for the Municipal Cup, and they are out to have some fun.

We asked team member Lauri Dannemiller, who is the Executive Director for Denver City Council, how the training was going.
A: Oh, are we supposed to train? I run around Sloan’s Lake a few times a week and hope that’s enough to prevent me from collapsing on the day of the event.

Q: Who's your biggest competition?
A:The runner in front of me on race day.

Q: What's your favorite thing about Colfax?
A: Discovering new shops and restaurants I never knew existed.

Gretchen Williams, Legislative Analyst for City Council and captain of the Denver Dashers, walked the half marathon the first two years. This year she’ll run the 5K leg.

“Running may be an overstatement,” she said. We asked her who her biggest competition was, and she said, “My body.”

We’re with you on that one.

So is team-mate Sean Maley, agreeing that his biggest competition is “me”.

Team-mate Denise Perez is running the 10K leg for the third time. She says her biggest competition is beating her last year’s time

“ I have started training earlier this year than last year - so hopefully there will be some improvement in time. Training so far - good!“

Anchor Darryn Zuehlke is running for the third year – and he’s taking the 12K leg.

We asked him what his favorite thing about Colfax is, and he said, “All the ‘new’ restaurants I never knew existed, and then going back to eat there after the marathon is over. That's how I first visited Cafe Star.”

Good luck, Denver Dashers!
