27 students from Kunsberg Elementary School have reached the final 25.2 Marathon Miler goal and will run the final Marathon Mile this Saturday at City Park.
But these are no ordinary kids.
Children attend Kunsberg -- which is part of National Jewish -- as an alternative to their home schools due to medical issues which have caused them to miss a significant amount of school in the past.
The majority of the students have chronic asthma (93%), as well as other health impairments including: sickle cell anemia; diabetes; lupus; heart ailments; juvenile rheumatoid arthritis; and other respiratory and immunological disorders.
The school currently has 69 students ages 5-14 in 6 classrooms from Kindergarten through 8th grade. National Jewish welcomes new students.
How many schools can say that almost 50% of their students are running the final mile?
