Group runs to make life changes

Via Channel 4 News:

"A group of runners at the 20th annual Runnin' of the Green in downtown Denver Sunday were racing to battle for something more than a record time. The members were trying to overcome homelessness and addiction.

"The group is from the Denver Rescue Mission's New Life Program and the Urban Peak's Up and Running Program. The members were recruited by the Activity Inspired Rehabilitation (AIR) Foundation.

"The runners are taught how to set incremental goals, like going a mile, then two and then five.

"And it really shows out that the guys who stick with the program, that really engage in the process, begin to naturally understand what that means in their everyday life," said Nick Sterner of the AIR Foundation."

The AIR Foundation is a Colorado-based non-profit and one of the Colfax Marathon's Charity Partners.

Many of its runners are training for the Colorado Colfax Marathon in May.
