The history of Colfax on CET

Did you know that Colfax Avenue, or Route 40, was "The Gateway to the Rockies" before I-70 was built? Our very own Route 66.

Ever wonder why all the little old motels with their kitschy neon signs line the street? Those motels used to be swanky places to stay when tourists were travelling west. The last stop before the mountains.

Did you know that Colfax Avenue was home to one of the country's first tram lines?

Did you know that Jack Kerouac's novel, "On the Road," was composed in a little apartment off of Colfax?

Did you know National Jewish was a tuberculosis sanitorium, and a big Jewish community flourished in the early part of the century?

Find out even more fascinating tidbits. Check out "Colfax" on CET. (That's Channel 5 on Comcast.)

It's on Thursday and Friday at 11:00 am, or Tuesday and Friday at 8:00 pm. Better yet, it's On Demand.
