DOING SOMETHING LOCALLY ABOUT POLLUTION
There's a lot of talk lately about the pollution in Beijing, and Olympic marathoners saying they won't run in those conditions.

Here in Denver, one of the Colfax Marathon's charity partners is working to do something about Colorado's air.

Runners raising funds for the American Lung Association in Denver will be directly helping local initiatives, like the Denver Metro Clean Cities Coalition, a program that encourages the use of electricity, ethanol, natural gas, hydrogen, biodiesel, and propane as clean alternatives to gasoline and petroleum diesel. This group helps monitor the state of our air.

In 2007, ozone remained the worst air pollution problem in Colorado, as reported in counties near the cities of Denver and Ft. Collins. Despite that, Colorado Springs remained on the list of cleanest cities for all three major pollutant exposures.
