Remarkable Runners: Mike Costas of Denver Galloway

We have so many remarkable runners in the Colorado Colfax Marathon, we thought we'd profile some of you here. Welcome to our first remarkable runner!

Name: Mike Costas
Division: Marathon
Age: 69
Run Colfax before? Yes, the last two. Took too long last year due to the heat, but felt great when I finished.
Goal this year? 6 Hours using the 1:1 run/walk interval.
What’s your favorite thing about Colfax? When else can you run down the middle of the longest main street ... Colfax?

Mike is a pretty amazing guy. He ran his first marathon when he was 59, because he wanted to say he’d run one before his 60th birthday. Since then, he’s run 14 marathons. He’s the coach of the Denver Galloway group. They use marathon legend Jeff Galloway’s “Run Injury Free” method of training.

“We can get anybody to finish a marathon, with the right training,” says Mike.

In addition to his weekly Denver Galloway training runs, he’ll be doing three training runs with the Charity Team from the American Lung Association on April 19, May 3, and May 10.

Go, Mike!
