Remarkable Runners: Erin Johns of Stroller Strides

Welcome our next Remarkable Runner!

Name: Erin Johns
Division: Half-marathon. First time running Colfax.
Age: 34

Q. How's your training going?
A. Fantastic. I am now up to 8 miles and I'm going for 9 this weekend!

Q. What's the best thing about running?
A. No matter where you are or what time it is, you can always throw on your running shoes and get out for a run. It's an easy sport to commit to because there aren't a lot of excuses not to do it.

Q. What's your favorite thing about Colfax?
A. You get a little piece of absolutely every aspect of Denver. It's got the good, the bad and the ugly- and it's all fascinating!

Erin is a Park Hill mom to twin girls, age 22 months. Erin used to work as an operations manager for a resort company, but after her girls were born, she decided to embrace her passion for fitness. So she started Denver's Stroller Strides – a fitness class for moms. The important part of Stroller Strides is that babies are welcome.

“I want to provide moms with a fun way to get back in shape,” says Erin. “It’s so important -- for first-time moms especially. Not only do they get in shape, but they make connections with other moms, and they can bring the kids along.”

Erin's training 36 moms to run the Cherry Creek Sneak, and she’ll train another group to run the Bolder Boulder after that.

Good luck in the half-marathon, Erin!
