Denver Kids

Preventing droupouts with Denver Kids, Inc.

Denver Kids, Inc. works with Denver kids who are at risk for dropping out of school. They try to identify these kids and begin working with them as early as possible.

They take a two-pronged approach: counseling, and mentoring.

Counselors see the kids at school, at home, at lunch, at sporting events to make sure kids stay on track at school. Counselors average eight year relationships with kids.

Mentors see kids a few times a month, and it’s more of a role model relationship, to help kids identify their goals and objectives beyond school.

Denver Kids, Inc. has been serving Denver for 60 years. Five years ago, Denver Kids served 500 kids. Since then, they’ve doubled, adding 100 kids per year.

One of the Denver Kids, Inc. students, Nigel Daniels, a sophomore at Denver School of the Arts, will be running on a relay team with his mentor, Mark Ballard. The two met in 1999, when Nigel was just 6.

Team Denver Kids, Inc's goal is to raise $10,000, and they’re more than halfway there.

Even if you're not running for a charity partner, you can help donate now.
