$3,000 in prize money for the winners of the Master's Marathon

The winners of the Masters component of the Colorado Colfax Marathon - which includes runners over 40-years-old - will receive $3,000 in prize money, sponsored by our Charity Partner, the Prostate Cancer Education Council's (PCEC) PACE Race.

The PACE Race Series - sponsored by Sanofi-Aventis to benefit the PCEC - was launched in 2002 to increase national awareness of prostate cancer.

The prize money will be distributed among master's men and master's women marathon winners:

$1000 for 1st
$300 for 2nd
$200 for third

Additionally, as part of their efforts to raise greater prostate cancer awareness in Denver, the PCEC will provide gift bags for men ages 40 and over and host a race-day booth at the Sports & Fitness Expo.

Too many of the 2.5 million men in Colorado don’t know they face a one in five lifetime risk of developing prostate cancer, a rate which is higher than the national average. Sadly, in 2008 approximately 3,210 men in Colorado will be diagnosed with prostate cancer and 350 will die from the disease. The good news is, when detected early, prostate cancer is often treatable.

A huge thank you to our Charity Partner, the Prostate Cancer Education Council!
