Race Guide 2008: Course Maps, Parking, Spectator Information

Course Maps

View the course maps with detailed miles here.

Parking & Transporation

Where to park: Runners, please park in the lots at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science, the Zoo.

Relay Shuttles: Shuttles will be available to transport relay team members to their relay exchange zones, and back to City Park. Alternately, relay members can arrange their own transportation to their zone. Check www.coloradocolfaxmarathon.org for updates.

Road Closures: Travel on Colfax Avenue will be restricted to one lane of traffic in each direction. The course will roll up like a carpet as athletes pass. Traffic will resume normal patterns as soon as it is safe for athletes, spectators and motorists.

RTD: The marathon will cause delays on RTD routes that run on and/or cross Colfax Avenue. Call 303-299-6000 or visit RTD-Denver.com “Detours and Alerts” for full details.

What’s Happening on Colfax?
Spectators, here are the best places to watch the race and cheer on the athletes.
Aurora
The half-marathon course turns around at Children’s Hospital on the spectacular Anschutz medical campus, and then heads back along tree-lined 17th Avenue.
Denver
At the race start, the Esplanade is a great place to cheer on the athletes. Join the cheering fans enjoying an early morning beer at The Irish Snug, and catch some live music along Colfax Avenue.
Lakewood
Once runners hit Casa Bonita, the party really gets crazy. The “Casa” performers like to get rowdy with the mariachi bands, dancers and “Peace Pipe”. Rockley Music is party central in Lakewood. Don’t miss “Jaysun Morgan's Bass Inc”. and “The OTC Varmitz”. Further west, catch “Matt Bassano's 1 Man Multi-instrumental Band”, Doug Stackhouse and Mary Wagnerat performing at the Westland Town Center.
Marathon Village in City Park
The CarToys Stage at the Start/Finish line will be rocking all day. Here’s the lineup:

The National Anthem, sung by upstate New York native and member of the E Project Band, Dayna Geiger, kicks the morning off.

“Gription” is a gritty straight up rock & roll band from Boulder, recording their first album

“Bonobos” is a frolicking, fun loving group who have delighted audiences around Denver for years with their own brand of progressive original roots-art rock music.

“E Project Band” – featuring our Entertainment Director, Ken Crow, is a Denver-based act with rock and roll roots and original songs that fuse rock and pop into three minutes of energy. The band's sound is rock with folk-rock overtones.
