Freedom Service Dogs
Freedom Service Dogs is a nonprofit organization that rescues dogs from shelters and custom trains them to assist people with disabilities, providing lifetime support to ensure the success of the team and to increase the independence, endurance, and peace of mind of our clients.

FSD was founded in 1987 by Mike and P.J. Roche. Both Mike and P.J. were active with Assistance Dogs International (ADI) when the assistance dog industry was in its infancy. The Roches worked diligently to transform FSD from a two-person mom-and-pop shop to an organization that stands on its own. Since its inception, FSD has successfully paired more than 100 client-service dog teams in Colorado. Learn more about us by visiting www.freedomservicedogs.org.
Charity Partner Goal Our objective as a Charity Partner is to raise funds needed to match one client with a custom-trained service dog. The average cost for a full-fledged service dog is $25,000.
How to Participate There are a variety of ways to participate on behalf of Freedom Service Dogs. We encourage teams of five to sign up for the marathon relay; we also invite individuals to run either the half or whole marathon with us. If there are runners who are interested in the relay but do not have a group of five to run with, we will be happy to work with you in forming a relay team. Individuals and businesses can also participate through volunteer support and sponsorship roles.
Special Features All Freedom Service Dog runners will be given race-day team t-shirts for the big event. The group of five that raises the most money in pledges will win a pre-race pasta dinner, while the individual who raises the most will win a massage.
Fundraising Goals Our fundraising goals for the relay team members are $250 per person or $1,000 for a team of five. Relay team participants may choose to fundraise together or individually. We ask our half-marathon runners to raise $300 and our full-marathon runners to raise $400.
