WELCOME TO THE 2009 THE DENVER POST COLORADO COLFAX MARATHON

A Brief Overview

Running Events:  The Denver Post Colorado Colfax Marathon includes a full marathon (26.2 miles), a half marathon (13.1 miles) and a 5-person team relay that divides the full marathon course (individual legs of 10K, 5K, 10K, 5K, and 12K).  Wheelchair participants will follow the half marathon course only.

Start Time and Weather:  All running races will begin at 6:00 am. The wheelchair half marathon will start at 5:55 am.  Expect the temperature at the start to be in the 50s and 60s.

Cancellation:  Entry fees are nonrefundable.  Sorry, no exceptions.  The event will be held regardless of inclement weather.

Packet Pickup

Packets must be picked up in advance of the race during The Denver Post Colorado Colfax Marathon Sports and Fitness Expo in Denver's City Park Pavilion. There is no race day registration or packet pickup.

Marathon Relay
Marathon relay teams divide the full marathon course into 5 individual legs:
Leg 1:  10K
Leg 2:    5K
Leg 3:  10K
Leg 4:    5K
Leg 5:  12K

Relay teams may participate as Charity Partners or compete within the Corporate Cup, Municipal Cup, or Open Divison.

Race Week Schedule
The Denver Post Colorado Colfax Marathon consists of many events starting May 13th, with the big culmination on May 17th.  Most activities are held in Denver's City Park.

Traffic Road Closures

Road closures will occur across the Colfax corridor in Aurora, Denver, and Lakewood on May 17th.  As runners finish the course and it becomes safe for runners and drivers, roads will re-open.  Some closures may occur as early as 3:00 a.m., but all roads will be open by 1:00 p.m.  


Transportation and Parking
Whether you are running the marathon, half marathon, or marathon relay, we have you covered for parking and transportation to the relay exchange zones.

We have several styles of entertainment planned to keep you moving along the course.  If you're a spectator at the Start/Finish line, you won't be disappointed either!
